Challenge

Implementation: Installing sheet vinyl with coved skirting.

Coordinating deliveries and efficiently accessing the hospital site while adhering to restrictions and regulations.

Coordination with other trades: Collaborating with multiple trades to ensure a smooth workflow without causing delays or disruptions.

Health and safety: Finding an alternative to hazardous fumes from traditional contact adhesives for skirtings.

Solution

To overcome these challenges, we meticulously planned the project well in advance upon receiving the project dates. All floorcovering materials were sourced in accordance with the specifications, and we utilised preparation materials of a higher standard than average. We also made the decision to use Ardex AF635 Solvent-Free contact adhesive instead of traditional contact adhesives, such as ‘Thixotropic,’ to enhance health and safety.

Despite the challenges posed by working in a hospital environment, our team successfully completed the flooring project for the Scan Room within four days. By planning in advance, sourcing high-quality materials, and implementing innovative solutions, we were able to meet the client’s requirements while ensuring the safety and integrity of the flooring installation. This kind of work is always rewarding because you know that you are making a real difference.
