Longslade Community College

Customer wanted an attractive modern feel with curves created in different carpet colours to highlight different reading and study areas.

No scale drawings or designs for the curved areas

Works to be undertaken during the summer holidays

We met with the representative of the college to discuss their requirements and design ideas for the library, office, entrance and a small stairway. They had some really interesting ideas of wanting curves and circle features of contrasting and complimentary colours within the library to highlight reading and study areas and already knew that they wanted to use purples and greens for this area. Although they couldn’t give us any drawings of the designs they had in mind we were able to work closely with them to get a clear idea of exactly the type of effect they wished to create. The college felt confident enough after these initial meetings to give us a little artistic licence to bring their ideas to life. They wanted the works to be carried out during the summer months, which is when majority of the schools, colleges and Universities have major works completed. Fortunately they had contacted us early in the year enabling  us to get everything in place and the works booked in for the busiest time of the year.

We began by removing all the existing floor coverings and prepared the sub floor ready for the new floor. Two of our most experienced fitters attend site to fit the new carpet tiles and create the exciting design that the college wanted. We fitted Heckmondewike Supacord carpet tiles in purple, violet and green. The carpet tiles were continued in the office, and small stairway. We fitted new Gradus aluminium stair nosings and Joseph, Hamilton & Seaton entrance matting in Charcoal to all the entrance areas to protect the new floor coverings.  The client was delighted with the new look of their library and office.
